SHREVEPORT, Louisiana – Round one of the David Toms Junior Championship presented by Edwin Watts concluded Tuesday at East Ridge Country Club, with 90 of Louisiana's top junior golfers battling warm conditions to open one of the state's premier junior championships.
Play began at 8:00 a.m. with tee times off the first tee and tenth tee, and competitors posted several impressive rounds heading into Wednesday's final round.
In the Boys' 10-11 Division, Grey Weir holds the overnight lead after carding an 84. Weir highlighted his round with birdies on holes No. 3 and No. 16 to take the top spot entering the championship's final day.
The Boys' 12-13 Division is led by Samuel Perrodin, who fired an outstanding 3-under-par 69. Parrodin recorded five birdies during his round to establish himself as the player to catch on Wednesday.
The Boys' 14-18 Division features a three-way tie for the lead after round one. Derby Everson, Lane Smith, and Jayden Williams each posted 2-under-par 70 to share the lead entering the final round. With several players within striking distance, Wednesday is set up for an exciting finish.
In the Girls' Division, Grace Goodwin sits atop the leaderboard after an impressive 1-over-par 73. Goodwin made birdies on holes No. 9, No. 12, and No. 14 to earn a one-round lead heading into the championship finale.
The final round of the David Toms Junior Championship presented by Edwin Watts begins Wednesday morning at 8:00 a.m., with competitors starting from both the No. 1 and No. 10 tees. Champions in each division will be crowned following the completion of play.
