Kinder, LA – The Summer Kickoff concluded in thrilling fashion on Sunday as champions were crowned and final-round charges shook up the standings. Hosted by the Louisiana Junior Golf Tour (LJGT), Southern Texas PGA (STPGA), and Gulf States PGA, the event brought together 88 talented junior golfers from across Louisiana and neighboring states. With red numbers, tight margins, and clutch performances, the final round delivered a fitting end to one of the season’s premier junior events.
Boys 11–13 Division: Grey Ramsey Dominates Division with Wire-to-Wire Win
Grey Ramsey of Choudrant captured the Boys 11–13 division title with a wire-to-wire victory, finishing the tournament at 5-under-par (67-72—139). The 2030 graduate opened with a red-hot 67 on Saturday and followed it up with an even-par 72 in the final round to maintain his lead and secure the win by three shots.
Ramsey showed maturity beyond his years, combining powerful tee shots with a consistent short game to fend off a hard-charging field. His opening round 67 was the lowest in the division and set the tone early at Koasati Pines.
Landon Lotz of Slidell (2031) made a strong Sunday push, firing a 4-under 68 to climb into a tie for second. He finished the event at 2-under (74-68—142), tied with Owen Lejeune of Baton Rouge (2030), who posted rounds of 68-74.
Rounding out the top five were Derby Everson and Eli Knighton, both of Shreveport and both finishing at +1 overall (145). Everson’s final-round 69 was among the lowest of the day, and Knighton posted rounds of 70-75 to secure a share of fourth.
The Boys 11–13 division showcased incredible talent and competitive spirit, with five players finishing at +1 or better over two rounds. For many, this event marked an early-season statement as they continue their growth within the Louisiana Junior Golf Tour.
Overall Boys 13–18: Andrew Bird Goes Low to Win Overall Boys Title at Koasati Pines
Andrew Bird of Nacogdoches, Texas, captured the Overall Boys (13–18) title in dominant fashion, finishing the tournament at 8-under-par with rounds of 67-69—136. The 2028 graduate delivered back-to-back sub-70 performances to hold off a strong leaderboard and claim the top spot in a competitive field.
Bird’s consistent play across both rounds featured sharp iron work and a confident putting stroke. After an opening-round 67 gave him a share of the lead, Bird stayed aggressive in the final round, carding a 3-under-par 69 to finish three strokes ahead of his closest competitor.
Micah Stewart of Alvin, Texas (2027) mounted an impressive Sunday charge, firing a 5-under 67 to leap up the board and finish solo second at 5-under-par (72-67—139). Maddox Mowad of Monroe (2027) placed third at 2-under-par for the event (72-70—142), staying steady with a clean, two-day performance.
The Overall Boys division featured some of the lowest scoring of the weekend and highlighted the depth of talent from across Louisiana and Texas. Bird’s two-round total of 136 stood as the lowest score across all divisions in the 2025 Summer Kickoff.
Overall Girls 13–18: Goodwin Clinches Victory
Grace Goodwin of Bossier City secured the Girls Overall title at the 2025 LJGT Summer Kickoff after a steady even-par round of 72 on Sunday at Koasati Pines. The 2027 graduate posted rounds of 70-72 to finish at 2-under-par (142), earning her first Louisiana Junior Golf Tour win of the season.
Goodwin entered the final round with a narrow lead and held her ground with a composed performance from tee to green. Despite mounting pressure, she matched her opening round with consistency and composure, carding an even-par score that proved enough to keep her ahead of the field.
Vivian Volion of Springfield, a 2025 graduate, finished two shots back at even par for the tournament (72-72—144). Volion applied pressure throughout the round, but couldn’t close the gap as Goodwin remained unshakable coming down the stretch.
Rounding out the top three was Isabella Reeves of Zachary, 2030, who improved significantly on day two with a 1-over-par 73, finishing at +7 overall (78-73—151). The rising star showed promise with her final round surge and continues to establish herself as one to watch in the younger age group.
