Riggs Ryan Breaks Through for First LJGT Win as Artieta and Ramsey Hold Their Ground at U-Club

A look into the final round of LJGT at U-Club held at the University Club in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Tuesday, July 29, 2025.

Riggs Ryan of Lafayette delivered a breakthrough performance at The University Club to claim his first Louisiana Junior Golf Tour title, posting back-to-back rounds of 71 for a two-day total of 142 (2 under) and a come-from-behind win in the Overall Boys’ Division.

After trailing by four shots entering the final round, Ryan stayed composed as the leaderboard saw a major shake-up on Tuesday. With steady ball-striking and clutch putting, he navigated the back nine in 35 and became the only player in the field to finish under par for the tournament.

“I’ve been struggling to break 75 all summer,” Ryan said. “So, I just came with a non-scared mentality, played with confidence.” Ryan’s victory not only marked a personal milestone but also capped off one of the most dramatic leaderboard reversals of the LJGT season.

Justin Lotz of Slidell finished runner-up at even par (144), while Parker Greene of Mandeville, who led after an opening 67, finished third at 148 (4 over) following a tough final round.

Grey Ramsey of Choudrant, Louisiana, captured the Boys’ 11–13 Division title at the LJGT at The University Club with a two-day total of 145 (+1).

Ramsey opened the tournament with an even-par 72 on Monday, followed by a steady final-round 73 on Tuesday. His performance was marked by consistent play throughout both rounds, including four birdies and just five bogeys across 36 holes.

After making the turn at even par in the final round, Ramsey held off the field with composed play on the back nine, including key birdies on the par-3 13th and par-5 17th. His steady finish sealed a wire-to-wire victory at one of the most challenging venues on the LJGT schedule.

Owen Lejeune of Baton Rouge and Derby Everson of Shreveport, finished in a tie for second at 147 (+3) after matching rounds of 74–73. Eli Knighton, also of Shreveport, finished fourth with a two-day total of 150 (+6), posting rounds of 74 and 76.

Evelynn Artieta of Denham Springs, Louisiana, entered the final round with the lead and held on through a turbulent Tuesday to capture the Overall Girls’ Division title at the LJGT at The University Club. Artieta posted rounds of 76 and 73 for a two-day total of 149 (+5) to win by three strokes.

Despite a stretch of highs and lows, including timely birdies and a brief stumble on the back nine, she never lost control of her position atop the leaderboard. A strong start and clutch finish allowed her to weather the bumps and close out the win with a steady 73 (+1) on the day.

Grace Goodwin of Bossier City finished runner-up at 154 (+10) after improving with a solid 74 in the final round. Isabella Reeves of Zachary rounded out the top three at 161 (+17).
