LJGT 2025 June Player of the Month: Kate Boersma

Lafayette, Louisiana – We’re excited to introduce Kate Boersma as the Louisiana Junior Golf Tour’s June Player of the Month!

Kate is 17 years old and from Ruston, Louisiana, where she attends Ruston High School. If you’ve seen her on the course, you know she brings a great mix of fun, focus, and fearless competition. Whether it’s sticking close to her 8-iron in a tough spot or rocking her lucky yellow socks on tournament days, Kate brings her own unique style to the game.

She first picked up a club the summer before 8th grade thanks to her uncle—and that first lesson turned into a love for the game that hasn’t stopped growing since. Her favorite place to play? Squire Creek Country Club, her home course. But she also has a soft spot for Sea Pines Country Club in South Carolina because “it’s near the beach and just a beautiful place to play.”

When she’s not playing in tournaments or hitting the range, Kate loves playing pickleball with friends and spending time with her family. One thing most people don’t know about her? She was actually born in Malawi, Africa, while her parents were serving as missionaries!

Kate’s dream foursome includes Sam Burns, Scottie Scheffler, and Nelly Korda—some of the game’s best. And when it comes to improving her own game, she says she loves playing with Morgan Goudeau because they challenge each other and always have fun while doing it.

The LJGT has played a big role in Kate’s growth on and off the course. “It’s helped me so much by giving me tournament experience and the chance to compete with some really amazing girls,” she shared.

Kate’s advice to new golfers is something we can all take to heart: “You’re not going to be perfect. It takes a lot of practice. Stick with it—it’s a sport you can play forever.”
