Lafayette, Louisiana – We are excited to announce Nyles Williams as the Louisiana Junior Golf Tour Player of the Month for February 2025! A Baton Rouge native and student at Catholic High School, Nyles recently committed to Southern University to continue his golf career. We caught up with Nyles to learn more about his journey, his golf game, and what has shaped him into the player he is today. Check out his responses below!
What college do you plan on attending?
Southern University
What’s your favorite golf course you’ve played, and why?
Tpc Sawgrass because of hole 17 and how pure the course was
If you could create your dream foursome, who would join you on the course?
Me, Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan, My dad(even though he does not play)
When and how did you first get introduced to golf?
I was introduced when I was 6 and it was my birthday and my grandma asked my dad what to get for my birthday and he said golf clubs then I joined the First Tee program
What is your favorite memory from playing golf?
Winning the Capital City golf tournament at my home course on the last day
What does your pre-round routine look like? Any unique habits or must-do steps?
Stretch in the morning get to the course putt then hit balls then putt again. And unique habit must make 3 three footers in a row
Do you have any tournament-day rituals or lucky items you always carry?
Keep my lucky wristband on my golf bag
What's your go-to club in a challenging situation?
Hybrid
If you were a golf club, which would you be and why?
8-iron always consistent and gets the job done
If you could play any course in the world, which one would it be?
Augusta national because there is no place like it
What is your go-to snack and/or food/meal to get you "tournament ready"?
Peanut butter crackers
Who is someone you love to play with or against because you know it will help improve your golf game?
Phil Fraizer I’ve learned many things from playing golf with him
What advice would you give to someone just starting out in golf?
Even though it may not seem fun keep trying and you’ll get better
What’s your favorite thing to do outside of golf? Any hobbies or passions?
Hang out with friends
What’s one fun or unexpected fact about you?
I used to play the drums
How has the Louisiana Junior Golf Tour impacted your growth as a golfer and person?
It has changed my game as a golfer by competing against the best in the state and as a person just mentally keeping me composed and learning a lot about focusing
