It was a hot and competitive start to the LJGT at U-Club on Monday, with standout performances across all divisions setting the stage for an exciting final round.
Parker Greene of Mandeville delivered one of the day’s best rounds at the LJGT at U-Club, carding a 5-under-par 67 to take the solo lead in the Boys’ Overall division after round one. Greene opened with a 2-under 34 on the front and followed it up with a 3-under 33 on the back. His round included five birdies on holes 5, 10, 13, 17, and 18, along with an eagle on the par-5 11th. His only bogey came at the par-4 15th.
Riggs Ryan of Lafayette (2027) and Justin Lotz of Slidell (2027) are tied for second after rounds of 1-under 71. James Fuhrer of Franklin (2025) is in fourth after posting a 2-over 74.
The leaderboard was in constant motion today at the LJGT at U-Club, but by the time the final putt dropped in the Boys’ 11-13 division, it was Grey Ramsey of Choudrant who rose to the top with a rock-solid even-par 72.
Ramsey put together a composed round on the demanding University Club layout, carding eight pars on the front for a 1-over 37. He posted a clean 35 coming in, highlighted by a birdie on the par-3 13th and another on the par-5 17th to secure his place atop the leaderboard heading into Tuesday’s final round.
While Ramsey’s steady play set the tone, the rest of the field kept things interesting all afternoon. The leaderboard shifted repeatedly as several players made strong runs. Crew Galambos of Shreveport (2031) finished just one shot back after a 1-over 73, keeping himself well within striking distance.
A logjam at T3 includes three players who each shot 2-over 74: Shreveport’s Eli Knighton (2030), Baton Rouge’s Owen Lejeune (2030), and another Shreveport standout, Derby Everson (2030).
In a round where consistency proved key, Evelynn Artieta of Denham Springs posted a 4-over-par 76 to take a four-shot lead in the Girls’ Overall division at the LJGT at U-Club. Artieta went out in 40 and found her rhythm coming in with a even 36 on the back nine. She played her final three holes at 2-under to close out an opening round on a course that didn’t give much away.
Grace Goodwin of Bossier City (2027) holds solo second after carding an 8-over 80, while Baton Rouge’s Scarlett Kirsch (2028) rounds out the top three with a 12-over 84.
