Greene, Ramsey, and Artieta Lead After Round One at LJGT at Squire Creek

A look into the first round of LJGT at Squire Creek held at the Squire Creek Country Club in Choudrant, Louisiana on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.

The first round at Squire Creek Country Club brought plenty of drama across all divisions, with standout performances setting the stage for an exciting finish tomorrow.

Overall Boys’ Division

The star of the show today was Parker Greene of Mandeville. He was all gas and no brakes, putting together a bogey-free round of 63. Greene wasted no time, opening with back-to-back birdies on holes 1 and 2. He added more on 5 and 7, then caught fire again with birdies on 9 and 10. The momentum continued with another pair on 14 and 15 before capping the day with one more on 17.

At 9-under for the round, Greene will take a five-shot lead into Thursday over Justin Lotz of Slidell, who sits at 4-under. In solo third is Lafayette’s Riggs Ryan at 2-under. These three have all spent time near the top of leaderboards this season, setting the stage for an exciting final round to see who takes home the hardware.

Boys’ 11–13 Division

If anyone knows how to get around Squire Creek, it is Grey Ramsey. On Wednesday, the Choudrant native proved it. Playing just a few miles from home, Ramsey torched the front nine with five birdies and turned in a sparkling 4-under 68 to grab a three-shot lead in the Boys’ 11–13 division.

Ramsey’s front-nine 31 was a masterclass in capitalizing on scoring opportunities. A lone double bogey on the inward side hardly slowed him down, and his steady 37 coming home kept him comfortably in front.

Shreveport’s Derby Everson sits in second after a tidy 1-under 71. Crew Galambos of Shreveport and Landon Lotz of Slidell share third at 73. With one round to play, the local kid will sleep on the lead. At Squire Creek, nothing comes easy and the chasing pack has plenty of firepower.

Overall Girls’ Division

In the Overall Girls’ Division, Evelynn Artieta of Denham Springs holds the top spot after posting a 5-over 77. Artieta put together a steady front nine at even par before running into trouble on the back, but she will carry a comfortable 10-shot lead into Thursday’s final round.

Pineville’s Morgan Goudeau sits in second at 15-over, while Kate Boersma of Ruston is in third at 21-over. With one round to play, Artieta will look to close things out, but Squire Creek has a way of keeping things interesting until the last putt drops.
