102 players competed in the first round of the 7th Annual Sam Burns Junior Four-Ball Championship presented by LOTS powered by Legacy Rehab held at Squire Creek Country Club. Tee times began this morning at 9:00 AM off the 1st and 10th tee. The course played to a par 72 at 6,612 yards for the Overall Boys Division and approximately 5,479 yards for the Overall Girls and Boys 11-13 Division.
Choudrant, LA – Evelynn Artieta of Denham Springs and Maci Williams of Brusly lead the Overall Girls’ division at the 7th Annual Sam Burns Junior Four-Ball Championship after an impressive 3-under-par 69 in the opening round. The duo carded six birdies against two bogeys, showcasing a strong performance heading into the final round.
Sitting tied for second at 2-over-par are the teams of Mattie Purgahn of Lake Charles & Krysta Loftin of Pearland, TX and Samantha Truong of Manvel, TX & Payson Pistono of The Woodlands, TX. With one round to go, the stage is set for an exciting finish.
In the Boys’ 11-13 division, Grey Ramsey of Choudrant and Mac Steltonpohl of Dothan, AL are in the lead at 11-under, par 61. The pair combined for three eagles and seven birdies, going 8-under on the front nine and 11-under on the back. Trailing behind are Augustin Gros of Metairie and Bryant Yelverton of West Point, MS, at 7-under-par 65. In third are Alexander Hammonds of Texarkana, TX and Derby Everson of Shreveport at 5-under, par 67.
Hudson Partin of Denham Springs and Tucker Gutierrez are leading the Overall Boys’ division with an 8-under, par 64. Despite an early bogey on hole 3, the duo bounced back with nine birdies throughout the round. Just one shot behind is Drew Prieto and Jack Carter of Baton Rouge at 7-under par, while Drew Sliman of Lafayette and James Holtsclaw of Shreveport currently sit in third place at 3-under par.
