LJGT 2025 August Player of the Month: Riggs Ryan

July 7, 2025

Lafayette, Louisiana – The Louisiana Junior Golf Tour is proud to recognize Riggs Ryan, 16, of Lafayette, Louisiana, as the August Player of the Month. Riggs earned the spotlight following his impressive overall boys division win at the LJGT at U-Club this past week.

A junior at St. Thomas More Catholic High School, Riggs was introduced to the game at just five years old by his dad. Since then, his passion and dedication to the sport have grown steadily. His favorite golf memory so far? Making his first hole-in-one—an unforgettable moment for any young golfer.

Riggs keeps things simple on the course. His pre-round routine consists of picking a target and taking a couple of practice swings. While he doesn’t rely on tournament-day rituals or lucky items, he does have a go-to club in tough situations: his 7 iron. “I’d be a 7 iron if I could be any club,” he shared, “so I could be used in the most ways.”

Among the courses he’s played, Sugarloaf Golf Course in Maine stands out as his favorite, thanks to the incredible views. If he could tee it up anywhere in the world, it would be Augusta National. His dream foursome? Justin Thomas, Will Ferrell, Tiger Woods, and himself.

Riggs credits the Louisiana Junior Golf Tour with helping him grow both on and off the course. “They’ve helped me as a golfer by making me want to win and keep up with other kids. As a person, by making new friends and being kind,” he said.

Off the course, Riggs enjoys spending time with friends and used to play basketball before focusing on golf. His go-to snack for tournament days is a protein bar and water, and when it comes to competition, he enjoys playing with Mason LeBlanc, someone who pushes him to improve his game.

The LJGT is excited to highlight Riggs and his accomplishments as our August Player of the Month. We look forward to watching his continued progress throughout the rest of the season.
